This design masterpiece by Olson Kundig, the acclaimed West Coast architects known for America's most stunning private homes and iconic public buildings. Its industrial aesthetic featuring linear concrete, black steel, and glass panels is softened by light wood ceilings and floors, natural materials, and thoughtfully curated artworks from prominent LA galleries. The property also boasts a gym, a book-lined office, a cinema room, and a wraparound deck with direct access to Carbon Beach. Unsurprisingly, all fixtures, fittings, and furniture are of the highest specification; the design pieces are unique.

With five bedrooms accommodating up to ten guests, this residence boasts exceptional features, including an internal courtyard filled with cacti, surrounded by spacious ground-floor living areas and a modern kitchen.

Upstairs, the bedrooms feature luxurious bathrooms – the main bedroom offers two, along with a private terrace complete with an al fresco fireplace.

Living Room: a substantial raw concrete fireplace with a wood stack divides the living room into two distinct areas. Retractable floor-to-ceiling windows, equipped with automated black steel sun shades, offer breathtaking views and bathe the space in Pacific light.

Hand-selected vintage pieces include 1950s Poul Jensen Z chairs, a 19th-century French primitive coffee table with a granite top from LA's famed Galerie Half, and tan leather De Padova sofas adorned with African vintage fabric cushions. Unique Afghan rugs add a cosy contrast to the linear fireplace.

The second living area features a custom-made Liaigre-style sofa, a sleek fibreglass coffee table, and a rustic 19th-century Chinese work table.

A striking multi-layered abstract canvas by LA-based Nevena Prijic, exploring the evolution of the human body, adds an artistic touch to the space.

Kitchen and Dining Area: the stylish kitchen showcases a sleek concrete countertop and backsplash, black wooden units, and an industrial-style concrete cabinet on a metal rail. It is outfitted with premium Gaggenau appliances, a Boffi faucet, and vintage 1960s Pierre Jeanneret bar stools.

A 10-person dining table, crafted from a beautifully grained wood slab, sits beneath elegant hanging baton lights.

The professionally equipped catering kitchen, ideal for entertaining and events, can be discreetly hidden behind black metal panels.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Each of the five bedrooms features an en suite bathroom and a king-size bed.

The master bedroom boasts two bathrooms, one with a freestanding eggshell bathtub and expansive ocean views, along with a dressing room and a private decked terrace featuring a concrete fireplace.

Art and artefacts include two Milanese De Padova chairs overlooking the Pacific. A striking Californian landscape, created by San Francisco-based architect Koak, showcases intense colours over charcoal sketches made from California’s wildfires.

One guest room offers breathtaking sea views, a vintage curved Vladimir Kagan sofa, and a terrace with sunbeds. Two additional first-floor guest rooms face the Pacific Coast Highway, and there is a ground-floor bedroom suitable for guests or staff.

Other Spaces

The entrance leads to a grand second orange metal door and a distinctive Olson Kundig staircase, blending steel, glass panels, and leather-wrapped steps against the concrete wall. "May 1977" by New York-based artist Mickalene Thomas employs rhinestones, glitter, acrylic, and oil paints to portray a contemporary vision of female sexuality and power.

The gym is equipped with a Peloton, treadmill and rowing machine. The artwork includes "Beach Dancers 2016-2022" by Trinidadian artist Che Lovelace, a vibrant Cubist-inspired depiction of his home island.

The cinema room boasts a 100” television and a cosy cloud sofa.

In the games room, there is a handmade wooden ping pong table by Californian craftsman Sean Woolsey. "Gut Check 2022" is a typically dynamic, vibrant and colourful abstract oil painting by LA artist Lauren Quin.

One of two powder rooms features a seven-metre-high ceiling clad in Shou Sugi Ban charred timber.

A book-lined office space contains a custom-made concrete and steel desk, Eames office chairs, and a Ravenhill Pivot chandelier. "Tondo" by contemporary artist and dancer Nick Cave is a mixed media piece inspired by his stage costumes.

Central to the house’s exceptional design, its glass walls can be fully opened to link different sections of the interiors according to your mood or practical needs.

An internal Zen cactus garden features sun loungers, rocks, and rustic stone pots.
