We have just returned from a fabulous family weekend at Hillside. From placing the booking with wow house, to arrival and departure everything was first class. The house was immaculate, the pool was great fun for our grandchildren and it was extremely sociable for all 19 of us to be together to celebrate our family Christmas. Absolutely brilliant stay. The house had everything you could possibly need, so well equipped, filter coffee maker, milk frother, nespresso coffee maker, plenty of crockery, glasses and spotlessly clean. Every bedroom was beautiful with big en-suite shower rooms. Location was opposite the sea and pier, great location for long walks or cycling along the coastal path. Restaurants, fish and chips, places for coffee, supermarkets all just a wander by. The basement cinema room was great for the sports fans/film watching and rest of us in peace upstairs reading or playing board games. The bar and ice machine was also very convivial. Regarding the property there's only one word to describe Lake Windermere Lodge, incredible. Everything about the property says wow, the views from the bedrooms and downstairs facing the lake are simply unrivalled. I organized an extended family gathering at Honeybourne Manor in the Cotswolds after Christmas. It was quite difficult to find a home to rent that would accommodate all the different ages and stages of our family (from 4months to 'gently seasoned') but we were absolutely delighted with this home. The kitchens (there are 2) made cooking for everyone a delight with everything you could possibly need available. The dining room actually accommodates 20 people very comfortably and there were high chairs available. The home is old and comfortable and has just enough quirks to make for charming memories with all the modern amenities (comfortable beds and bedding, clean, fresh bathrooms) to keep everyone comfortable. We made good use of the hot tub and sauna and the lovely grounds that surround the house. Sadly the Tithe Barn was closed during our stay but we took full advantage of the beautiful countryside with lovely walks. The property manager was incredibly helpful and, after I sent a couple of questions, replied promptly with clear answers. I fully recommend The Wow House and Honeybourne Manor. It really was a Wow house! From the moment of arriving the house worked brilliantly for me and my guests. The location and views are wonderful and we were lucky with unseasonably warm and sunny weather. The kitchen is designed in such a way that lots of people can be in there without getting in each other's way so it functions extremely well as a kitchen and as a hub for socialising. The bar and sitting areas are lovely as is the outside terrace with the firepit. I had a fantastic celebratory weekend and there was nothing to fault. Emma was very attentive when we had any questions and I would thoroughly recommend this house as a brilliant party house with lots of areas to relax and chill out too. We stayed at The Old Rectory in Leek for New Years Eve (with 7 children) and cannot fault our stay! The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas, the bedrooms were very comfortable and the kitchen was so well appointed.
